On June 26th, the Tolerance Poster Show opened at Shangri-La as part of the Peace stage at Glastonbury Festival 2024 in Pilton Somerset, England. With a footfall of more than 40,000 a night, across the five days of the festival, 100 posters were shown on 50 flags hung across the arena. The project became a key part of the Peace Stage’s design and significantly impacted the space and its audiences. The festival went on until June 30th.
The Peace Stage took the guise of an abandoned and now occupied shopping mall, where the only consumption is of culture. This is where the most exciting new talent and legendary musical acts perform side by side. Each day, the “occupying” artists spread their messages of love through art interventions, speeches and performance with new art being created and pasted up daily, continually transforming the space and giving the audience an opportunity to also take part and use their voices for change and on this global platform.
We are thankful to Kaye Dunnings and Izzi Daly for their relentless effort in making this show possible.
